Who we are

The Global Expat Hub (theglobalexpathub.com) is operated by THE GLOBAL EXPAT HUB LLC, a limited liability company based in Illinois, USA. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the site, our country guides, the Country Match Quiz and our forms. Questions about this policy, or about your own information, go to info@theglobalexpathub.com.

Information you give us through forms

Our forms are processed by Netlify Forms. We receive only what you type in:

• The Expat Brief signup (in the footer, on the quiz completion screen and on Stories): your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it to send the newsletter you asked for.
• Quiz results by email: if you ask for your Country Match Quiz results to be emailed, we receive the email address you provide so we can send them.
• Share Your Story: your name, email address and the story and photos you submit. The story and the name you give may be published on our Stories page.
• Post a Job: the job details and contact information an employer submits for a listing on our jobs board.
• Advertising enquiry: your name, company, email, phone number and message, so we can reply about placements.

The State of Expat Living survey is anonymous

Our survey records only the multiple-choice answers you select and the date. It asks for no name, no email address and no free-text answers, and results are published only in aggregate, in the State of Expat Living report.

Guides, the quiz and everyday browsing

Our PDF guides are public files: downloading one never requires your name or email. The Country Match Quiz runs in your browser; we receive an anonymous usage count of quiz completions so we know the quiz is being used, with no name or email attached. The site also remembers the plan tier you last chose (Affordable, Mid-range, Luxury or Retirement) in your browser's local storage, on your device only, so pages open the way you left them.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand which countries, guides and tools readers use, so we can improve them. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and reports pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for privacy-focused page-view counts, and our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (including IP address and time of visit) to run and secure the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site, the quiz and the guides still work.

Affiliate links and advertising

Some links on the site are affiliate links, for example to SafetyWing and NordVPN, and some placements are paid advertising. Sponsor and affiliate links are labelled and marked rel="sponsored". If you click through to a partner and buy something, that partner may use its own cookies to attribute the purchase to us; from that point, your information is handled under the partner's own privacy policy, on their site, not ours.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent it, trade it or share it for anyone else's marketing. We share information only with the service providers named in this policy (Netlify for hosting and forms, Google for analytics, Cloudflare for analytics and security), and if we are ever legally required to disclose it.

How long we keep information

We keep form submissions and emails for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose you sent them: newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe, enquiries and submissions while we are responding to them and keeping ordinary business records. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

Your rights

Email us at info@theglobalexpathub.com to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to unsubscribe from the Expat Brief. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA, and you can use the same email address to exercise them.

Children

The Global Expat Hub is written for adults planning a move abroad. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. The version posted here is always the current one.
