Regent Taipei

Regent Hotels & Resorts · Silks Hotel Group flagship on Zhongshan North Road, Taipei

Regent Taipei stands on Zhongshan North Road in the district of the same name, the tree-lined boulevard that has been Taipei's grand-hotel row since the post-war decades. Opened in 1990, the hotel is the flagship of Taiwan's Silks Hotel Group and carries the Regent name within IHG's luxury portfolio — a grande-dame address that has hosted heads of state and film festivals while remaining a working neighbourhood landmark.

The hotel's 538 rooms and suites sit high above the boulevard, many with views across the city toward the mountains that ring the Taipei basin. Interiors pair dark timber and stone with contemporary Taiwanese art, and the top floors hold the Tai Pan rooms and suites, served by a dedicated lounge and butler-style service.

Dining is a destination in itself: eight restaurants and bars include Mihan Honke for Japanese grills, Robin's for steakhouse and teppanyaki counters, Silks House for Cantonese, and the Gallery lounge for afternoon tea. The basement Galleria adds a row of luxury boutiques, and the hotel's bakeries and banquet kitchens supply weddings across the city.

For a scouting trip, the location does quiet work: Zhongshan MRT station is a short walk away, Taipei Main Station and the airport MRT are one stop beyond it, and the Zhongshan and Zhongxiao shopping districts spread out on either side. The Wellspring Spa and the rooftop pool give a long stay a routine to come back to.

Scouting checklist

  • Stay in at least two neighbourhoods.
  • Choose somewhere with a kitchen: it reveals daily costs.
  • Visit a supermarket, a clinic and a school during the stay.
  • Ask the manager where they would and wouldn't rent.

Every listing links to the property's own website. Listings are editorial picks; a Partner tag marks a paid placement, and a Long-stay tag marks places set up for longer stays.
