Aman Sveti Stefan

Aman · Island village resort with Villa Miloćer, on Montenegro's central coast

Sveti Stefan is a fortified island village of stone houses and narrow lanes, joined to the mainland by a narrow causeway. Aman Sveti Stefan spreads across both sides of that causeway: the village cottages on the island itself, and, in the pine and olive park opposite, Villa Miloćer, the stone residence built in 1934 as a royal summer retreat. Between them lie two of the most photographed coves on the Montenegrin coast.

Rooms and suites occupy the island's restored village houses, keeping their thick stone walls and small windows, with terraces and sea views over the Adriatic. Across the water, the suites of Villa Miloćer look over King's Beach and the park, giving the resort a second, quieter mainland base a short walk from the island.

The village square, the Piazza, holds the resort's main restaurant, and there is further dining at Villa Miloćer. King's Beach, below the villa, and Queen's Beach, in its own cove further along the park, are reserved for guests, and the spa sits in the grounds at Miloćer among the pines and century-old olive trees.

As a scouting base the position is hard to beat: Sveti Stefan sits midway along the central coast, with Budva's old town and beaches a short drive north and Petrovac and Lake Skadar to the south — the same stretch of coastline, between the bay and the lake, that many prospective expats come to research first.

  • Part of Aman Resorts; the island village dates to the 15th century
  • The island is linked to the mainland by a narrow isthmus causeway
  • Villa Miloćer, in the park opposite, was built in 1934 as a royal summer residence
  • Two guest beaches: King's Beach by Villa Miloćer and Queen's Beach in its own cove
  • On the central Budva Riviera coast, between Budva and Petrovac
