Mangia's Sardinia Resort, Autograph Collection

Autograph Collection by Marriott · Operated by Aeroviaggi · Reviewed from our own family stay, summer 2025

In the summer of 2025 we based ourselves at Mangia's Sardinia Resort with the whole family — and it is still the family holiday I keep replaying in my head. The resort spreads across two buildings, Maddalena and Caprera, above the pale sand and pink granite of La Marmorata, on Sardinia's northern coast near Santa Teresa Gallura.

Our room opened onto its own ground-floor terrace: coffee on the credenza in the morning, doors open to the garden. Inside, a big bed in crisp white, twin stone sinks and a walk-in rain shower — everything freshly renovated in a contemporary Mediterranean style, across hundreds of rooms and suites.

Days ran on a simple loop: the Main Pool and the Caprera Pool, the beach on the sand below, and long lunches. We ate our way around the resort — the Mediterra buffet, pizza at Al Grano, the Beach Restaurant, Donna Floriana Bistrot, and Scausu Grill & Kaigan Sushi Bar — with evenings at the Chosquito bar, the Lime Pool Bar and Riva's Pool Club. The children had the Kids and Junior Club, run with Worldwide Kids; one evening a family of wild boars strolled past the Caprera building like they owned the place.

We took the resort's tailor-made excursions too: a boat day in the Maddalena archipelago, swimming in water the colour of glass, and a trip inland to the Nuragic stone towers and the Giants' Tomb — far older than Rome.

My verdict: 5 out of 5 stars — Sardinia at its most joyful. If you are scouting Sardinia for a move, start with a week here and explore the north coast from it.
